This master's dissertation aims to examine the critic reception which is focused on linguistic-stylistic aspects of João Guimarães Rosa's (1908-1967) works. During its the best moment on 1950', the Stylistic theory, specially the one of Spanish origins, had greater influence on Brazilian literary criticism. This event matched to the excitement caused by the publishing of two important works by Guimarães Rosa in the same year, Grande sertão: veredas and Corpo de baile (both are from 1956), that is consequence of its language, which is a fusion of popular and erudite and which has a suiprising imaginative power.
